A single platform for a rigid Drum Transfer Station designed to handle drums and transfer systems.
The Iris BIBO Drum Transfer Station is a rigid station designed for the contained transfer of powders from drums to process equipment. Built on the common Iris BIBO platform, it combines a rigid stainless-steel containment chamber with the DIT® iris interface. This configuration allows the station to accommodate drums of different diameters and heights. It also creates a controlled working area for opening the inner bag, positioning the suction lance and disconnecting the drum after use.
The system is not tied to a specific transfer technology. It can be adapted to different suction lances and pneumatic powder transfer systems. This makes the station suitable for new installations, existing production lines and retrofit projects.
Independent movements.
The contained emptying of a drum involves several operations. The drum platform can raise or lower the container, while the suction lance can be moved independently. This approach improves accessibility when opening the bag, inserting the lance and recovering the powder.
The lance is supported from above. Its weight therefore does not have to be continuously supported by the operator. The lance can be progressively lowered into the drum as the powder level decreases. The operator can therefore adjust the position of the lance to reach different areas of the drum and reduce the amount of residual powder.
DIT®: the suitable solution for different drums.
The DIT® interface is one of the main elements of the system. The Iris BIBO Platform, on which flexible solutions can also be installed, is a highly versatile, universal-type system.
Instead of using a fixed opening designed for a single drum diameter, the iris installed on the platform closes around the outer surface of the container. This creates an enveloping barrier between the rigid containment chamber and the drum. The station can therefore accommodate drums of different sizes without requiring a dedicated containment chamber for each format.
Product-specific liners, secondary bags or drum sleeves can be handled within the contained working area. These accessories are, of course, also custom-made by CSV Containment, including tensioning tools and Twin Tie® closures.
The drum can be connected with the lid in place, opened, emptied, reclosed and removed while maintaining separation between the process area and the surrounding environment. This flexibility is particularly useful in multi-product facilities and wherever only a partial quantity of powder needs to be withdrawn.
Suitable for your suction system.
The upper connection of the Iris BIBO Drum Transfer Station can be designed according to the selected suction lance system. This means that the user is not restricted to a single powder transfer technology.
During the design phase, equipment already installed at the customer’s site is also taken into consideration. The lance diameter and connection type can be selected according to the application. This makes it possible to handle powders with different flow characteristics, densities and containment requirements.
Finally, since some applications require the drum to be only partially emptied, once the required quantity has been withdrawn, the inner bag can be reclosed inside the containment chamber. The drum can then be disconnected or used for a subsequent production batch.

The same platform can, of course, also be adapted for contained powder sampling. Using a common platform for powder transfer and sampling creates a consistent containment strategy across different material-handling operations. It can also simplify operator training, spare-parts management and equipment standardisation.
